Our Curriculum

Here is some more information about how we keep golfers progressing with their skills

What does the 5-week rolling curriculum involve, and how is it structured?

Our 5 week rolling program consists of 5 major components

  • Long Game (Driving and Fairway Woods from the tee)
  • Long Game (Iron Play and fairway woods from the ground)
  • Short Game (Pitching & Chipping)
  • Putting
  • Testing

We call it “rolling” because once we complete testing week, its back to Week 1 (Long Game) and the cycle continues

Do I need to have any prior golfing experience to join the program?

Our program is designed to cater to all levels of golfer. With the regular testing, it ensures that kids and adults are appropriately placed for their skill level, Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced

How do I know what skill level I should book my child (or myself) into?

We typically recommend booking all kids into the beginner classes to start with so that our instructors can see what level of skill golfer they are working with. In situations where it is obvious that a child should be at a higher level, we try to conduct intermediate and beginner classes at the same time to make it an easy switch to the higher skilled class. In some cases, we will put a student through our testing process in order to get an accurate idea of what class they need to be in.

What is testing week like and how are the tests/assessments performed?

During testing week, all classes are put through our testing program. We use the Operation36 testing program which is a great way to grade the kids and see their level. It also allows us to objectively place kids appropriately as well as identify their strengths and weaknesses

What is Operation36?

Operation36 is a program developed to help introduce golf from the green back to the tee. The testing aspect see all golfers learn to make ‘par’ from 25 yards for 9 holes. Each hole is a par 4 and so if a golfer scores 36 or better, they progress to level 2 which is the same process from 50 yards. At Golf House Academy, we grade the kids in the following brackets

  • Level 1 (25yds) & Level 2 (50yds) – Beginner
  • Level 3 (100yds) & Level 4 (150yds) – Intermediate
  • Level 5 (200yds) & Up – Advanced

What does a typical class look like?

To get a better idea of what a typical session looks like, here is an example of Week 1 (Driving/fairway woods from the tee) for the beginner class (Levels 1&2)

  • Warm-Up (5 minutes)
  • Fundamentals (10 minutes)
    • Review grip, posture, stance, and ball position.
  • Long Game (25 minutes)
